"The Covenant at Sinai"
After liberating the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery, Moses ascended Mount Sinai. Amidst thunder and fire, God gave him two stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments. These laws established the moral and religious duties of the people: to worship only God, to honor parents, and not to murder, steal, or commit adultery.
These commandments became the ethical foundation of Western civilization. Unlike the whims of kings, this was a divine, absolute moral code that applied to everyone. It established the concept of a 'Covenant'—a sacred contract between God and humanity.
