"The Migration that started a Civilization"
In 622 CE, the Prophet Muhammad and his followers faced assassination threats in Mecca. They undertook a perilous migration to the city of Yathrib (later renamed Medina). This event is known as the Hijra. It was so pivotal that the Islamic calendar begins not with Muhammad's birth, but with this migration.
In Medina, Muhammad was no longer just a preacher but a statesman. He established the first Islamic community state (Ummah) governed by divine law. The Hijra marks the transition of Islam from a persecuted faith to a major sociopolitical power that would soon reshape the world.
