"Let there be Light"
The Book of Genesis opens with, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Over six days, God brings order to chaos through speech alone. Light is separated from darkness, land from sea. He fills the world with plants, stars, and animals. Finally, He creates humans in His own image. On the seventh day, He rests.
This narrative establishes that the universe is not an accident but a purposeful creation by a benevolent Creator. It asserts the inherent dignity of humans as image-bearers of God. Whether interpreted literally or metaphorically, it answers the fundamental question: "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
