In 1789, angry Parisians stormed the Bastille, igniting the French Revolution. They overthrew the monarchy and aristocracy, declaring the "Rights of Man." The revolution championed the values of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
The revolution turned violent during the Reign of Terror, where thousands including King Louis XVI were executed by guillotine. Despite the bloodshed, it established modern democratic ideals and inspired revolutions worldwide. Napoleon later spread these ideas across Europe.
